Opportunities to challenge, discuss & rethink the bigger ideas and questions of life.

Rethink is an opportunity for people in Farnham to engage with other like minded individuals to discuss, discover and explore some of the fundamental questions of life, in a variety of fun, informal, intellectual or practical ways.

Churches and organisations from across Farnham have come together to try and bring meaning and understanding. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from world class speakers and ask your most difficult questions.

Farnham Humanist Society, the local Christian community, and the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics come together to host a dialogue in which we explore the meaning of life.

We all want to get ahead in life, so it’s good to have goals - whether they’re to do with family, career, or status.

But what happens when such goals and their attainment come entirely to define a person’s sense of self? What happens when life becomes a competition that we must win if we want to be significant?

Join Simon Edwards over a curry for some reflections on these questions in his talk I achieve, therefore I am.

What can history tell us about Jesus?

Are the gospels anything more than a bunch of fables that got changed in the telling? Can history really illuminate anything about Jesus? In this session Dr Max Baker-Hytch will be taking a look at how various lines of evidence — from archaeology through to non-Christian written accounts — confirm the broad reliability of the accounts of Jesus in the Bible, and how historians think we can know a surprising amount about the founder of Christianity!

Has science buried God?

If we are to believe many modern commentators, science has squeezed God into a corner, killed and then buried him with its all-embracing explanations. Atheism, we are told, is the only intellectually tenable position, and any attempt to reintroduce God is likely to impede the progress of science.

Dr. John Lennox explores the question, "Is it really true that everything in science points towards atheism?" Could it be possible that theism sits more comfortably with science than atheism? Has science buried God or not?

Where’s the line in good business?

Not so long ago, people would ask, "can we afford to be moral?" Today, businesses are increasingly asking, "can we afford not to be?" Integrity in the workplace has become one of the dominant themes in the press in recent years. But how far does that go and how important is it actually?

Michael Ramsden asks, "does the Christian worldview have anything meaningful and relevant to say on this issue?"

Join us for an evening of live jazz from Saxello, good food, a short talk and great conversation. Tickets include a three-course evening meal and drinks.
